Instacart Expands EBT SNAP Access to Three Additional Retailers

Instacart Expands EBT SNAP Payment Integration to More California Stores

Instacart is expanding its EBT SNAP payment integration to additional merchants, including the Save Mart Companies, which operates chains such as Save Mart, Lucky California, Lucky, and FoodMaxx in California. This brings the total availability of EBT SNAP payments on Instacart to over 1,500 stores across 15 states, significantly enhancing access to grocery delivery and pickup options for SNAP recipients.

“We recognize the opportunity we have to help make fresh food and pantry staples more accessible to communities by breaking down barriers to same-day grocery delivery and pickup,” stated Instacart President Nilam Ganenthiran in a recent press release.

The Save Mart Companies have been accepting EBT SNAP in California and Nevada, allowing recipients to shop for fresh food and pantry essentials through Instacart’s website or app. This service supports same-day delivery or pickup from all participating locations.

In addition to the Save Mart Companies, other grocers accepting EBT SNAP online through Instacart include Aldi, Food Lion, and Price Chopper/Market 32, the latter of which has plans to expand services in several northeastern states.

Instacart initially enabled EBT SNAP payments in partnership with Aldi back in October 2020, starting in Georgia, with plans for further expansion across the country. The surge in online grocery shopping during the COVID-19 pandemic has spurred various retailers to adopt online SNAP payment options, making essential groceries more accessible to low-income households.

This integration is part of a broader effort by grocery chains to enhance food access for communities in California and beyond, ensuring that more families can utilize convenient grocery delivery and pickup options. Instacart is committed to continuing its expansion of EBT SNAP payments nationwide.
