Texas Governor Abbott Extends SNAP Replacement Benefits for Flooding Victims

Deadline Extended for SNAP Replacement Benefits in Texas

Governor Greg Abbott has announced an extension for SNAP recipients to apply for assistance following recent floods.

The Texas Health and Human Services Commission (HHSC) has received federal approval to extend the deadline for Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) recipients affected by flooding in several counties. Those residing in Bandera, Blanco, Frio, Gillespie, Kendall, Kerr, Medina, Uvalde, and Val Verde counties now have until August 3, 2026, to apply for replacement benefits for food lost or destroyed due to the severe weather.

Governor Abbott emphasized the importance of this extension, stating, “Families who lost food in the recent floods now have more time to request SNAP replacement benefits. This deadline extension through August 3rd will help put meals on the table for those in need.”

SNAP recipients can expect funds to be added to their Lone Star Cards within two business days of their request, aiding families as they recover from the devastating impacts of flooding.

Texas HHSC Executive Commissioner Stephanie Muth reinforced the commitment to support those affected, saying, “These replacement benefits will help ensure feeding their families is one less worry as they focus on recovering and rebuilding.”

To request replacement benefits, recipients should visit a local HHSC office. For convenience:
