Financial and Medical Support for Ukrainian Refugees Extended in Georgia
The Georgian government has announced the extension of its financial assistance programs for Ukrainian citizens until October 1, 2026. These programs provide essential support for housing costs and medical care for Ukrainians who fled their homes due to the ongoing war.
Under the program, eligible Ukrainian families will continue to receive a monthly housing assistance of 300 Georgian lari. Additionally, each individual qualifying for support will obtain 45 lari per month. This financial aid aims to help Ukrainian refugees acclimatize to their temporary situation in Georgia and ensure that they can meet their basic living needs.
Eligibility extends to Ukrainian citizens and those with permanent residence in Ukraine who arrived in Georgia due to the war’s escalation. As confirmed by Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze, the payments are administered by the Social Services Agency. It’s crucial for beneficiaries to remain aware that if they leave Georgia, their monthly payment of 45 lari will be suspended starting the following month. Furthermore, the housing allowance will cease if all family members have departed the country.
In addition to financial support, the Georgian government has reaffirmed its commitment to providing medical care for Ukrainians. The medical assistance program will also be available until October 1, 2026, ensuring that eligible individuals can access necessary health services during their stay in Georgia.
This ongoing support is vital for Ukrainian refugees as many navigate the challenges of displacement and seek stability in a foreign land. For those currently receiving aid or planning to apply, it’s advisable to stay informed about any changes to eligibility or program terms by checking updates from Georgia’s Department of Human Services (DHS) and services such as Georgia Gateway.
As the situation continues to evolve, the Georgian government remains steadfast in offering essential assistance to those in need, helping to alleviate the difficulties faced by Ukrainian families in Georgia during these challenging times.
